Octopath Traveler Guide………..

Octapath Guide to Octopath Traveller:

Tips, Strategies, and Insights for Success Octopath Traveller is one of the most played role-playing games by Square Enix. Released back in 2018, its retro-style visuals, engaging turn-based combat, and eight different storylines make it one adventure that players will remember forever. On the other hand, being too open-ended with a group of characters that are highly diversified and intricately designed mechanics is easily overwhelming to new gamers. It guides you through the heart of Octopath Traveller, picking up useful information on tips, strategies, and insights into achieving success on your journey in Orsterra’s world.

Understanding the Basics of Octopath Traveller:

You have to know your way around before you venture into the game’s more complicated corners. All basic structure shall be understood here:

The World of Orsterra:

Octopath Traveller takes place in the continent of Orsterra, a world in which eight unique characters each have their own stories, motivations, and abilities. As the player, one can choose to start his journey with one of these characters from one part of the continent. Among the characters are:

  1. Olberic Eisenberg: A warrior in search of redemption.
  2. Primrose Azelhart is A dancer in search of revenge against her family.
  3. Alfyn Greengrass: A very kind pharmacist
  4. Therion: A master thief in search of a stolen artefact
  5. Cyrus Albright: Searching for lost knowledge as a scholar
  6. Tressa Colzione: A young merchant on an adventure
  7. H’annit: A hunter seeking a dangerous beast
  8. Ophelia, a Cleric seeking to redeem her church through pilgrimage

Turn-Based Combat System:

The game features a traditional turn-based battle system with a twist. For every enemy, there is a “shield” that represents its defence. Once you break an enemy’s shield using particular abilities or attacks, they become exposed to attack and greatly increase the damage you will be able to apply to them. The mechanism is all about exploiting weaknesses, managing BP, and strategic planning.

Boost and Break Mechanisms:

Most importantly, you can boost a hero’s attacks, skills, or abilities using Boost Points (BP). A turn passes acquiring BP, and you use that saved-up BP to unleash powerful moves when you need them. You can also break an enemy’s shield by hitting at their weaknesses a number of times. Their ability to defend gets disabled for that time, so you get to hit at greater advantage.

Selecting Your Starting Hero:

The first major decision you will make in Octopath Traveller is choosing your protagonist. You will have eight playable characters available, but for playability, the one you choose at the beginning will influence the debut experience.

  • Olberic Eisenberg: Best for players who enjoy doing combat straightforward and tank-like. His skillset involves physical attacks and protecting his teammates.
  • Primrose Azelhart: Good for those who want a bit of offence and support. Primrose is very effective against enemies with debuffs and magical damage.
  • Alfyn Greengrass: Best for players who want a character that can heal and serve a purpose with all these healing supplies.
  • Therion: Perfect for those players who mostly focus on stealing, opening chests locked, and using many skills in debuffing.
  • Cyrus Albright: Great for users who like magic-types. He is a highly damaging mage.
  • Tressa Colzione: Ideal for those who want a merchant to buy and sell goods at discounted prices and use wind-based magic as well.
  • H’annit: Good for people who like their Off-Def balance to be intact. H’annit summons beasts to fight for her.
  • Ophelia: Best for players who enjoy playing clerics who can revive and support the party. Ophelia has skills that can raise dead allies and give buffs to allies.

All of the above are viable, but it may depend on your playstyle preference.

Octopath filling Your Party:

Once you pick your starting character, you’ll unlock the other seven over the course of the game through recruiting. Recruiting characters is a matter of going to their town and completing a tale-specific event associated with each one. The game is structured such that you can recruit these characters at will so you can choose your priorities to build the right team for synergies or techniques.

Party Composition:

  • Tank/Defence: The roles of Olberic, H’annit, or even Ophelia (in defensive healing) can be the concept of a tank, absorbing damage and protecting your party.
  • Damage Offenders: For success, optimum balancing of damage offenders is required. Cyrus and Tressa could deliver immense magical damage by Therion and Olberic covering the packed physical attacks.
  • Healing/Support: Ophelia and Alfyn are excellent support characters, but you may also want to include a secondary healer or buffer, such as Tressa or Primrose.
  • Debuffing and Utility: Primrose has abilities that lower the stats of your enemies, and Therion’s thieving also yields useful items and cash. It’s through the strategic use of such utility abilities that you have an edge in tougher battles.

Combat and Battle Tips:

Octopath Traveller is actually strategic turn-based combat. And winning battles is really about knowing how to exploit the weaknesses of your enemies in order to maximise your use of BP.

Octopath Traveler Guide

1.Octopath Exploit enemy weaknesses:

Each enemy in Octopath Traveller has one or more elemental or physical weaknesses. Use these weaknesses to break down their shields and open up holes for your attacks. Each character has certain abilities that hit specific weaknesses so use those in the battle.

2.Octopath Spend BP wisely:

Every character earns BP over time (one per turn) and will have to use them wisely in order to succeed. You can “boost” an ability, making it more powerful, by spending one or more BP. However, you will want to balance this resource carefully. Do not squander BP on a minor enemy when you might be saving it for a boss fight.

3.Octopath Break enemies for high damage:

When an enemy’s shield is broken (with repeated exploitation of their weaknesses), they become weak and can take additional damage when in a “broken” state. Keep your turns managed so your party members can hit on that weakness in time.

4.Octopath SP (Skill Point) Management:

SP is something of a little scarce resource that you use most for all your character’s skills; whereas some characters, like Alfyn and Ophelia, have skills that restore SP, in this case, you’d better manage this resource properly. Don’t waste SP on less critical moves; save it for high-impact skills that can turn the tide of battle in one move.

Side Quests and Exploration:

While the main stories of each character are so really interesting and engaging, the world of Octopath Traveller is also so rich with side content, including character-specific side quests and hidden treasures. So, explore each town, talk to NPC’s, and go through these quests because they often receive useful items, powerful accessories, and new abilities.

Character-Specific Quests:

It’s worth noting that each of the eight characters has his own unique quests that introduce something in his personal story. These are pretty important, not only in character development but also in unlocking new abilities and some worthwhile items. Unlocking these quests is rewarding and can make your party much stronger.

Hidden Items and Secrets:

The world is scattered with hidden treasures, waiting to be discovered. Don’t rush through the towns or areas. Instead, look for the concealed paths or secret chests that contain the rarest things and equipment. And this very exploration can reward you and surprise you by what you can find.

Management of the Equipment and Skills:

The equipment system is pretty straightforward for Octopath Traveller, but there is still an awful lot of customisation: characters can equip a variety of weapons, armour, and accessories to enhance their capabilities. Be sure to upgrade your equipment frequently in the game to keep one step ahead in combat.

Choosing the Right Skills:

Active and passive skills are unlocked with levelling, and there are also purchaseable or unlocked secondary classes that allow one to mix and match. For example, putting the Scholar job on Warrior (Olberic) allows one to use critical magical attacks but maintain strength as a tank. Experiment with various configurations in order to find the best synergy for your team.
